Imagine there exists a system of life that provides support and stamina at our most anxious moments. One that is varied by laughter and a trust that comes through for us even when we do not expect to need a miracle. A force that knows to adjust the energy around us as life throws its many hits and encounters our way. An influence that pushes us to keep going even when we lose a battle now and again. I wonder what we will define this system as or if our minds can fully comprehend what it means to be surrounded by energy so great it refuses to go away.
I translate this shifting energy or system in many ways, but I think my personal best words that English managed to develop are “friendship and companionship.” I am learning that so many words can find themselves lost in translation and meaning, and those two words are not above this journey. I carry these words on the adventure of my life and play a game of tag with people and things, forcing them into a partnership that bounds us by these two words. So, with that, I have found friendship and companionship in the best and the worst places. I have discovered a force that reminds me of all the many tools that my body and brain possess. I have discovered people and places that make these words come alive, making a song out of every story, and that makes me feel at home.
I sometimes wonder if we create the energy that attracts this partnership or if the world is filled with wandering bodies that are waiting to be jammed up with this system of support and strength. I think the latter is the case. I believe the world is filled with souls searching for more, searching for people who would make them feel alive, searching for a way to cancel out the fear of being lonely. I guess that search never ends, and all we do is pick up different definitions of the words as we continue our journey. In our search, we can shape and reshape the little pieces of this energy, as we find them in both usual and unusual places; then, we can hope they are in for a game of tag.
